About Lodz

Lodz is the third biggest city in Poland, it has a population of 682,679 (2019). It is placed in the middle of our territory near many important routes and railroad trials. The city is one of the most important industrial centers in Poland. The greatest impression is always made by the uncommon architecture of Lodz. Old manufacturers look more like courts or palaces. We can also admire the manors of Cotton Kings and the biggest Jewish cemetery in Poland.

Study in Lodz

  • Despite very poor public transport and traffic jams, Lodz has very good infrastructure for bikes, including public bike, and the police don't punish people for riding on sidewalks,

  • The cost of living is very low in Lodz, comparing to other big cities in PL,
  • The job market for entry-level programmers is excellent - there are few big companies and bunch of smaller, ready to hire students, which is very good chance to take your first steps in software engineering. Many people stated their part-time jobs on 3rd year and quickly became senior developers with very good university background,
  • The city is very safe, but it is general rule for Poland.

Advantages of the Lodz

Disadvantages of the Lodz

- Not many attractions outside Piotrkowska Street.

- Crowded.

- Language barrier.

- Day trip to Warsaw. It’s definitely doable. Less than 2-hours away by train, why not set off in the morning to Poland’s capital city and catch the train back in the early evening.

- Manufaktura in Lodz is the name of the largest shopping center in Poland.

- Establish in 1892, The Jewish cemetery at Bracka Street in Łódź, one of the largest in Europe.

- Lodz was known as the ‘Manchester of Poland’ because of the booming textile industry of the 1900s.
