The 2021 QS World University Rankings: Latin America has been released. Read on to find out who secured the top positions this year.

The 2021 QS World University Rankings: Latin America has been published, with the top 10 positions remaining relatively unchanged from the previous year. Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile has retained the top spot, receiving a perfect score of 100 and having been awarded top marks for academic reputation and employer reputation. The next two positions also remained consistent, with the Universidade de São Paulo (USP) retaining second place and the Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM) retaining third. Both universities scored over 99 on average, yet there was a stark difference within the category of papers per faculty, with ITESM receiving the top-ranking and USP sitting in 87th position. Fourth place was awarded to Universidad de Chile, an improvement on its 2020 ranking of seventh place. There was no movement in fifth place, with Universidade Estadual de Campinas keeping a firm grip on the position and receiving perfect scores in papers per faculty and staff with Ph.D. Universidad de los Andes Colombia dropped from fourth to sixth position, and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México also falling slightly from sixth to seventh. No further movement was seen among the last three spots in this year’s top 10 institutions, with Universidad de Buenos Aires, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and Universidad Nacional de Colombia retaining eighth, ninth, and 10th positions respectively.
