Professional language courses for trainees / employees in accordance with the ordinance on job-related German language promotion (German language promotion ordinance - DeuFöV)
What are professional language courses?
The professional language courses according to § 45 a AufenthG are a language learning offer for people with a migration background who want to improve their chances on the job and training market. They are aimed at foreigners living permanently in Germany (especially asylum seekers with good prospects to stay), Union citizens and German nationals who do not have sufficient knowledge of the German language.
The aim of vocational courses:
- Mediation of German language skills that are generally needed in the working world
- increasing the vocabulary around the theme of work
- working up and deepening of German grammar
- Training of secure communication in the workplace (eg with customers, colleagues and
superiors)
access On the professional language course:
A prerequisite for participation in a professional language course is the issuance of a letter of authorization. For employed persons and trainees in a recognized training occupation, the authorization letter can be requested from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). The ISL language school supports companies and participants with the application process.
Costs for the participants:
- for trainees in a recognized
occupation : free of charge - for employees: depending on the taxable annual income
(in the case of a cost contribution: EUR 2.07 per teaching unit)
Structure of the professional
language courses - professional language course B2: 500 TU (bridging element B1 + language course B2 ) Initial requirements
for participation: current language level B1
- professional language course C1: 400 units Initial requirements

Implementation of the professional language
courses The basic professional language courses for trainees and employees can be carried out both as in-house training in the company and as group lessons in the training buildings of the ISL language school.
Qualification:
The basic professional language courses B2 and C1 end with the corresponding certificate examination (Telc Deutsch B2 / Telc Deutsch C1) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages GER. The Federal Office bears the costs for the implementation and evaluation of the certificate examinations.
