The Royal Roads University campus sprawls over 260 hectares of lush parkland, where you will find walking, hiking, and biking trails, magnificent examples of the west coast's flora and fauna, gorgeous views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca with the majestic Olympic mountain range in the background, a stunning Japanese garden, and a castle built for one of Vancouver Island's most recognized coal barons.
It's a National Historic Site with a castle — and a setting for more than a few feature films, such as X-Men and Deadpool.
Our physical Royal Roads University campus is 25 minutes from Downtown Victoria, BC on the lands of the Xwsepsum (Esquimalt) and Lekwungen (Songhees) ancestors and families.
Students study throughout the gardens on their pallets. Research is conducted in living laboratories. Classes are indoors and out.
Our world-renowned gardens and hiking trails are free and open to everyone.
Creatures abound. And not just our resident peacocks. Bees buzz in the apiary and community food garden. And the shallow tidal waters of the Esquimalt Lagoon make it one of the top birding spots on the Island.
We are committed to being a great host. To welcoming everyone and creating a sustainable and inclusive environment that enhances Indigenous culture and respects traditional knowledge.
